Military Retirement

Practicing divorce law in Kitsap County area, I handle many cases involving current and retired military personnel and their spouses.  I have represented both sides in cases involving military retirement and divorce.

An important area of military divorce is the U.S. Military retirement benefit.  In almost all military divorces, it is something that needs to be addressed during settlement negotiations or trial.  Military retirement benefits can be substantially valuable so it is important to discuss your case with someone who is experienced in this area. DUI Breath Test Refusal

The United States Supreme Court ruled in Birchfield v. North Dakota that a warrant is required if someone suspected of driving under the influence (DUI) refuses to take a blood test.  The blood test is used by law enforcement to obtain a person’s blood alcohol content (BAC).  However, it also ruled that law enforcement does not need a warrant to obtain a breath test. Prenuptial Agreement

A prenuptial agreement is a contract entered into between prospective spouses in anticipation and consideration of marriage.  Parties often enter into prenuptial agreements to protect themselves and the other spouse in case a divorce occurs.  These agreements are common and valid if certain requirements are met. Selling Your House during or after a Divorce

A home is usually the most valuable asset a couple owns during a marriage.  The typical situation involves a couple owning one primary residence.  The couple decides to separate and start the divorce process.  The consideration at that point then becomes what to do with the house.    (more…)

DUI Drugged Driving

A new study by the Governors Highway Safety Association finds that drivers are nearly as likely to be impaired on drugs as drunk on alcohol.  The report also seeks out to take steps to better monitor and control drugged driving.  In other words, the report sets to seek out better ways to find drivers who are DUI drugged driving and have them prosecuted.
